Los cuckoos utilizan lo que le llaman en ingles Brood Parasitism, conciste en la hembra poner los huevos en un nido de otro pajarito infeliz por ahi y que la otra ave lo alimente mientras la madre se encarga de otras actividades mas productivas como cojerse con otros pajaritos y tambien comer, las demas aves son tan torpes que ni cuenta se dan del cuerno que le an metido en el nido y en muchos casos el pichon crece mas del tamaño de su madre adoptiva como sucede con el common cuckoo:

Huge astronomy news! For the first time EVER, galaxy researchers have taken pictures of planets orbiting a sun-star, much like our own. The first, taken by the much beloved Hubble Telescope, shows a planet orbiting the bright southern star Fomalhaut, located 25 light-years away in the constellation Piscis Australis. The second picture, snapped by upstaging Hawaiian observatories Gemini and Keck, shows two young planets orbiting a completely different star located 130 light-years from us! Take that Hubble! But I warn you—like the ultrasounds your friends show you of their three-month old fetus—these pictures wow mostly because of what they are, not because of what they look like.

This is what the Hubble Telescope saw, conveniently labeled by our friends at NASA. Where is the planet, you ask? Do you see that little underlined part to the right? That's the unimaginatively named Fomalhaut b! To get the image, Hubble's camera needed to block out the brightest part of the star, which shines millions of times brighter than the planet itself.

And here's the picture taken by the Gemini and Keck observatories of the bodies orbiting Star HR8799. HR8799 is about 1.5 times more massive than our sun, and five times more luminous. Like the Hubble's image, this star needed to have its light blocked too in order for us to see the planets. These two, despite being an even greater distance away, were slightly easier to find since they're young. Being only about 60 million years old, they're still glowing from leftover heat from their formation, making them brighter than Fomalhaut B, which only glows when reflecting light from Fomalhaut.

Here's an artistic rendering of Star HR8799 and it's planets. The third planet hasn't been imaged yet, but thanks to mathematical calculations, we know it's there!

So in case you were doubting it—yes, other star systems exist. And as our galactical camera technology gets better, the pictures will start looking more like actual planets, rather than fetal specs on a giant Eye of Sauron. [Bad Astronomy]

Otakus japoneses piden el derecho a casarse con personajes de 2D



Parece que el frikismo japonés no conoce límites. Desde hace unos días, ha corrido por la red la noticia de que una serie de otakus nipones han redactado una petición formal al gobierno japonés con el que solicitan tener derecho a casarse con personajes de 2 dimensiones, es decir, animados o ilustrados, en lugar de con féminas humanas de 3 dimensiones a las que estamos acostumbrados. Para ello, aspiran a recoger 1 millón de firmas de apoyo, y por el momento ya llevan más de 2.500, cifra nada desdeseñable para una iniciativa tan peculiar.

Con obras como Welcome to the NHK o Chaos;HEAd, hemos podido comprobar que hay muchas personas que viven más (y mejor) en el mundo de la ficción que en ese otro al que llamamos real. Claro, que de ahí a casarte con tu personaje de manga o anime favorito, el trecho es bastante largo. Por otra parte, si llegara a formalizarse esta nueva modalidad de matrimonio (al que supongo que ni el Papa ni la iglesia se opondrán, teniendo en cuenta que no deja de ser la unión entre un hombre y una mujer, como Dios manda), hay ciertas cuestiones que quedan en el aire y que no sé si alguien me podrá responder.

De primeras, ¿cómo se pueden mantener relaciones maritales con un personaje de dibujos animados? Podréis decirme, claro está, que para el poco sexo que tendrán estos superfrikazos en sus vidas, apenas notarán la diferencia. Pero, ¿qué pasa si dos personas deciden casarse con el mismo personaje? Normalmente, sería ella quien eligiera a su pretendiente más apropiado, pero en este caso es un poco complicado. Quizá sería buena idea establecer un sistema de duelos a muerte, de esos con pistola y los diez pasos reglamentarios, para disputarse el amor de bellezas como Champoo, Asuka o algunas de las protagonistas de Love Hina o Battle Club.

This of course also helps them save on construction costs and make a bold statement on the skyline in addition to using recycled materials on their buildings as they do on their bags - a wonderful synthesis of design, sustainability and branding all around.



Images of this building have long made their way around the internet, often calling it the ‘Redneck Mansion’ for lack of knowledge about its actual origins. In point of fact, this is an elaborate theater set for a showing of the Anton Chekov play Ivanov in Amsterdam. The original confusion came in part from partial sets of these images circulating the web in which the shots of the audience area were omitted. So, what would appear to be incredible backwater innovation is in fact a calculated piece of theatrical construction - though that revelation in no way detracts from the strange beauty of this elaborate recycled set design.

The Minority Report Computer Is Real

Prepare to be amazed. A group of visionaries has created a real-world, working version of the big-screen gestural interface that nerds everywhere drooled over in the 2002 Tom Cruise film.





If you saw Minority Report, you probably saw the multi-screen, gesture-based interface that Tom Cruise uses to pull up police files and though, “That's cool. But I'll never live to see that thing invented.” Then you might have seen Microsoft demo its Surface operating system, and thought that's as close as the world would ever get to intuitive, mouse-and-keyboard-free computing.

Well, you'd be wrong on both counts. Not only does the interface of the future exist, but after several years of development, it's entering commercial form. Sure, you'll probably never live to see it put to use in local law enforcement - even the FBI has famously outdated computers - but someday, the local fuzz might get their hands on G-speak: a “spatial operating environment.”

If there are similarities between G-speak and the Minority Report computer, it's because one of the film's science advisors, John Underkoffler, is the founder of Oblong Industries, the company that has developed it. Spatial operating environments, or SOEs, as Oblong calls them, are essentially a combination of gesture-based input, “recombinant” networking, and a litany of real-world heads-up displays. It's not just a fancy skin, either, but an entire platform for application development and execution. Oblong has partners that develop apps for G-speak, but the company also does custom development in-house.

Corea del Sur desarrolla un uniforme militar de alta tecnología
