The Robocup

RoboCup is an international robotics competition founded in 1993. The aim is to develop autonomous robots with the intention of promoting research and education in the field of artificial intelligence. The name RoboCup is a contraction of the competition's full name, "Robot Soccer World Cup".

The official goal of the project:

By mid-21st century, a team of fully autonomous humanoid robot soccer players shall win the soccer game, complying with the official rule of the FIFA, against the winner of the most recent World Cup

Siphonophorae

El pajaro mas raro que existe en el oceano.....

The Portuguese Man O' War (Physalia physalis), also known as the blue bubble, blue bottle, man-of-war, or the Portuguese man of war, is commonly but erroneously thought of as a jellyfish. In fact, it is not a single animal, but rather a siphonophore – a colony of four kinds of minute, highly modified individuals, which are specialized polyps and medusoids. Each such zooid in these pelagic colonial hydroids or hydrozoans has a high degree of specialization and, although structurally similar to other solitary animals, are all attached to each other and physiologically integrated rather than living independently. Such zooids are specialised to such an extent that they lack the structures associated with other functions and are therefore dependent for survival on the others to do what the particular zooid cannot do.

A similar group of animals are the chondrophores, which are specialized hydroids that float at the surface of the open ocean.

The Portuguese Man O' War is infamous for its very painful, powerful sting.

Stings usually cause severe pain to humans, leaving whip-like, red welts on the skin which normally last about forty-five minutes after which it should subside. However, the venom can travel to the lymph nodes and may cause, depending on the amount of venom, more intense pain. A sting may lead to an allergic reaction. There can also be serious effects, including fever, shock, and interference with heart and lung action. There have even been deaths, although this is rare. Medical attention may be necessary, especially where pain is intense or there is an extreme reaction.

Nacreous or "mother of pearl" clouds are made of microscopic ice crystals floating in the stratosphere 9 to 16 miles high. THE FLOATING AIRBASE

• The surface of the16,000sqm flight deck is covered in a grainy,heat-resistant paint,similar to very coarse sandpaper. The entire painted surface amounts to 370 acres - slightly bigger than Hyde Park.

• Two huge lifts, each with a 70-ton capacity, are capable of transporting two aircraft from the hangar to the flight deck in 60 seconds. The ship will be home to 36 Lockheed Martin F-35B Joint Strike Fighters and four EH-101 Merlin helicopters.

• The ground-breaking twin-island layout allows more deck space for aircraft and better visibility of the flight deck. The forward island is for navigating the ship; flight control is based in the aft island.

• The ship's 29,000 sq m hangar is 150 metres in length and has 20 slots for aircraft maintenance.

• There are 11 full-time medical staff on board managing an eight-bed medical suite, operating theatre and dental surgery.

• An onboard water treatment plant produces over 500 tons of fresh water daily.

• Two Rolls-Royce MT30 gas turbines and four diesel generator sets produce 109MW - enough to power a town the size of Swindon.

• Cabins are spacious and cruise-liner style, with en-suite toilets and shower facilities. Officers and senior ratings have single or two-berth cabins. The maximum number of crew in a cabin is six.

• The carrier will carry more than 8,600 tons of fuel, enough for the average family car to travel to the Moon and back 12 times. This gives a range of up to 10,000 nautical miles.

• Top speed will be in excess of 25 knots, sufficient to cross from Dover to Calais in an hour.

• The two five-blade propellers are each 30ft in diameter - that's one-and-a-half times the height of a double-decker bus.

Brown animal: Notospermus tricuspidatus (Quoy & Gaimard). Up to 300mm long unstretched, its long sticky proboscis is often shot out when the worm is picked up. It can stretch tp 3 or 4 meters when picked up.
Orange animal: Gorgonorhynchus repens. Much smaller, (50mm unstretched), this species is unusual in having a proboscis consisting of many tubes. When the proboscis is everted, it looks very like a terebellid polychaete worm.

Nemertine worms are also called boot-lace or ribbon worms because of their shape. They are voracious carnivores usually eating living prey but also able to feed on dead fragments. They feed by shooting out a very long thin proboscis which is either sticky or has poisonous hooks. The prey is entangled in the proboscis and drawn towards the worm's mouth. The body wall musculature of nemerteans is not well developed and when picked up they can stretch to many times their original length.

China halla "mayor sitio de fósiles de dinosaurios" en el mundo

Cerca de la ciudad de Zhucheng, durante los últimos siete meses, se han recuperado unos 7.600 fósiles de un pozo de 300 metros de largo
Científicos en China informaron que descubrieron el mayor sitio de fósiles de dinosaurios del mundo en la provincia oriental de Shandong, reportaron el martes medios estatales.

Científicos han recuperado unos 7.600 fósiles de un pozo de 300 metros de largo cerca de la ciudad de Zhucheng durante los últimos siete meses, dijo la agencia de noticias Xinhua.

Entre los hallazgos se incluyen restos de un hadrosaurio de 20 metros, lo que podría representar un tamaño récord para este dinosaurio con pico de pato.

Los científicos interrumpieron el trabajo durante el invierno, pero dijeron que a partir de excavaciones adicionales podrían extraer más fósiles.

The hotel is built completely of blocks of salt cut out of the lake; similar to how Eskimo’s cut snow to make their igloos, with a tin roof covered by straw. All the furniture (including beds) are also made of the salt blocks, with the toilets, lighting, and billiard table being the only things made of contemporary materials.

The walls, you see, are made of salt. In fact, much of the hotel -- the roof, some beds, chairs, tables and bar -- are made of salt. Even the floor is covered with salt granules.

The hotel, recently renamed the Salt Palace and Spa, sits in the middle of the Uyuni Salt Flats -- Salar de Uyuni -- a prehistoric lake of salt near the Chilean border, covering 40 square miles at an altitude of 12,500 feet.

The salt flat is bordered by a strange land of volcanoes and geysers, flamingoes and cactus, with a rich history and spectacular scenery that has become one of Bolivia's main tourist destinations.

Lo raro es que no haya saltado el avión en mil pedazos ya que en la imagen se puede ver como el rayo le cae pero el avión sigue volando, la verdad que una suerte muy grande.

EL avión despegaba del aeropuerto de Osaka y al parecer en 40 años nunca había pasado esto, lo mas curioso es que el avión no sufrió ningún daño en su electrónica y como puede ser esto depues de que 100 trillones de vatios le pasaran por encima.....

EUROFIGHTER TYPHOON



The Typhoon's combat performance compared to the new F-22 Raptor and the upcoming F-35 Lightning II (only 1% of F-35 the test programme completed in April 2008) fighters being developed in the United States and the Dassault Rafale developed in France, has been the subject of much discussion. In 2008, the UK is discussing a pullout from the F-35 project and instead the acquisition of a naval Typhoon with thrust vectoring.

In March 2005, United States Air Force Chief of Staff General John P. Jumper, then the only person to have flown both the Eurofighter Typhoon and the Raptor, talked to Air Force Print News about these two aircraft. He said,“ The Eurofighter is both agile and sophisticated, but is still difficult to compare to the F/A-22 Raptor. They are different kinds of airplanes to start with; it's like asking us to compare a NASCAR car with a Formula 1 car. They are both exciting in different ways, but they are designed for different levels of performance.


Further, "The Eurofighter is certainly, as far as smoothness of controls and the ability to pull (and sustain high G forces), very impressive," he said. "That is what it was designed to do, especially the version I flew, with the avionics, the color moving map displays, etc. — all absolutely top notch. The maneuverability of the airplane in close-in combat was also very impressive.



The Typhoon is capable of supersonic cruise without using afterburner. This is referred to as "supercruise". According to the official German Luftwaffe and Austrian Eurofighter website, the maximum speed possible without reheat is between Mach 1.2 and Mach 1.5. Air Forces Monthly gives a maximum supercruise speed of Mach 1.1 for the RAF FGR4 multirole version.
